Some of the GPS Device I ever used :
BT GPS
One of the most popular device for user that already have a PDA (WM or Palm OS) or handphone (symbian OS). Wide range of software can be chosen, Mapking, Garmin Que and Garmin Mobile XT among famous navigation software been chosen by Malaysian user.
GPS Handhelds
Stand alone GPS device was a device that dedicated for GPS purpose only. Most of them are build tough to stand an outdoor activites.
I use my GPS Map 76csx for an example. It has only LCD screen and a few button on the front, at the back located the battery comparment, memory card slot, mini USB port and external antenna jack. It water resistant, had an ability to float and using AA batteries for easy replacement.
In Malaysia popular brand that had been use by many GPS amateurs was Garmin, with tracking abilities and storage card make it can store adeqaute track for a year. From this raw track we can build up our own GPS map. This will be discussed futher up more in the GPS Map category.
